Synopsis
Catalytic Paws is a housecat who dreams of adventure from the driver’s seat of a battered toy car.
One moonlit night, the impossible happens. The toy car takes flight.
His journey carries him to Snarlvania, a strange kingdom ruled by dogs, where cats are hunted and forced into servitude. There he meets Kitty Kurltail, a brave young cat hiding from the ruthless Duke Dogbreath and his relentless tracker, the Purrsniffer.
When Kitty is captured, Catalytic must overcome his fears, outwit the Duke’s henchdogs, and become the hero he has only ever imagined himself to be.
Tone and Audience
A playful, character-driven family animated adventure written primarily for children, families and the young at heart.
While the story contains visual comedy and fantasy adventure, its emotional themes of courage, friendship, belonging, and love are intentionally presented in a clear and accessible way for younger viewers.
Inspiration
My initial inspiration was the film “Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang” (hence the working title). There is still much of the spirit and character of this film in the screenplay, but the story evolved of course during the writing process.

About me
Duane March is an American writer based in Germany. Kitty-Kitty Bang-Bang is his first original feature screenplay.

A Ph.D. in Ancient History, he developed language skills in German, French, Latin and Ancient Greek. He has also published 4 articles in academic journals.
His film credits include English narration and voice work for director Rossano B. Maniscalchi’s award-winning films In the Ring (2021), The Key to Heaven (2022), Beyond (2023), and It’s Not Dark Yet (2024), all of which have screened at international film festivals.
In 2022, he received the Best Narration Award at the 13th La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival for The Key to Heaven. This and additional voice and narration honors are listed on FilmFreeway and IMDb.
His work on Maniscalchi’s film project include graphic editing, creating presskits, film editing (subtitles and voice overs), and proofreading and translating screenplays.
Duane has also written a murder mystery novel and is currently developing a historical novel set in Ancient Greece.
